Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication

Add a second layer of security to your PlayerKit account with an authenticator app. After your password, you'll be asked for a 6-digit code — it blocks sign-ins even if your password leaks.

Before you start: install an authenticator app on your phone — Google Authenticator, Authy, and 1Password all work — and make sure you're signed in to PlayerKit.

STEP-BY-STEP

Turning on two-factor authentication

Step 1

Go to Account settings → Login & security.

Step 2

Under Two-factor authentication, click Set up.

Step 3

Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code shown on screen. No camera handy? Enter the setup key underneath it by hand instead.

Step 4

Type the 6-digit code your app is showing right now, to confirm it's linked correctly.

Step 5

Save your recovery codes somewhere safe — they're your last way in if you ever lose your phone. Once they're saved, you're done.

Setting up two-factor authentication is optional but strongly recommended — without it, anyone who gets hold of your password could sign in. Once it's on, we'll ask for a code on every new device, and you can mark trusted devices to skip it there for 30 days.

ONCE IT'S ON

Managing your two-factor authentication

Head back to Login & security any time to:

  • Regenerate codes — get a fresh set of recovery codes (this replaces the old set).
  • Replace — got a new phone? Link a new authenticator entry.
  • See your trusted devices and revoke any you don't recognize.
  • Turn off 2FA — not recommended, but available if you need it.

The Login and security page with two-factor authentication already turned on, showing the Authenticator app card, Recovery codes, Trusted devices, and Connected accounts. Login and security is numbered 1 in the left navigation and the Two-factor authentication section is numbered 2.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Troubleshooting

"That code didn't match."

Codes refresh every 30 seconds — make sure you're entering the one showing right now, not one that just expired. Also check your phone's clock is set correctly; authenticator codes are time-based and drift if your phone's clock is off.

I got a new phone.

Sign in with your old device or a recovery code, go to Login & security, and click Replace under Two-factor authentication to link your new phone. Your old codes stop working the moment you do.

I lost my phone and my recovery codes.

There's no self-service reset for this — it's what makes two-factor an actual second lock, not just a speed bump. Contact support; we'll verify your identity another way and get you back in.

Can I turn it off?

Yes — Login & security → Turn off 2FA. We strongly recommend keeping it on; without it, your password alone protects your account.
